In February this year I began a Master Practitioner course for Cognitive Hypnotherapy which involves 10 months of study including 4 weekend workshops. I have now completed two of the workshops and so in some ways I’m half way there. At the beginning of the course we were asked to set ourselves 5 Slight Edge Habits to be completed every day.
Slight Edge Habits are the sort of daily activities that you could easily do but that can just as easily be ignored – easy to do, easy not to do. The idea being that these are the things that will give you a slight edge in life. It’s important to make sure that they don’t take too much time or effort so you really can achieve them easily because you need to commit to doing them each and every day.
So what I’ve found so far is that it’s important to have a balance of things that bring you enjoyment & happiness and things that will extend your knowledge, challenge you intellectually or help you move forwards towards a bigger goal. Remember that even small steps move you forward. You see the only difference between a dream and a goal is that a goal is a dream that you’re taking action towards.
How do you get started? Simple: write down 5 things you could do each day that move you towards your goal. Every day, circle each one as you achieve it. Repeat….
So what’s popped into your mind as you’ve been reading this? What will you adopt as your Slight Edge Habits? Read 10 pages of a book, walk for 15 minutes, listen to music ……
